The objective of this study is to provide clients with a thorough understanding of the specific process chemicals used in the United States, Canada and Mexico for the extraction, beneficiation and transport of minerals from selected ores.
The study identifies each of the specific chemicals and its process function, its consumption in 1999 and projected for 2004, in pounds and current United States dollars, price per pound, suppliers to the mines, and their 1999 market shares, and their product designations.
The 2004 projected consumption estimates are based on:
- The worldwide demand for the mineral.
- Technological changes in extraction and beneficiation processes.
- Development in new and improved functional chemicals.
- The impact of government agency (U.S., Canada, Mexico) regulations.
This study provides chemical producers, distributors and mines with a tool for short range sales, longer range market and strategy planning and identification of the need for improved processing chemicals.
To gather the information to prepare this study, contacts were made with concentrator and mill superintendents, mine managers, metallurgists, environmental engineers, purchasing agents, research engineers, government agencies (United States, Canada, Mexico) and trade associations. Contacts were also made with chemical producers and suppliers.
Contacts were made with 330 people at 250 locations at 220 companies in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The scope of this study includes the investigation of specific chemicals used for the extraction, beneficiation and transport of ores mined and processed in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
