Concrete Admixture Chemicals - United States and Canada - Marketing-Technical Study.
Objectives of Study.
The objectives of this study are to provide clients with an understanding of the concrete admixture business, to identify the specific chemicals and raw materials used in their formulations, and to give the consumption, in gallons and dollars, of the various concrete admixtures used by the ready mix and precast/prestressed concrete and other product producers in 2002 and projected for 2006. Also provided are the chemical and raw material suppliers and their 2002 market shares.
Scope of Study.
This study thoroughly investigates the specific chemicals and materials used in the following concrete admixtures in the United States and Canada:

  • Water Reducers
  • Air Entrainers
  • Accelerators
  • Retarders
  • Corrosion Inhibitors
  • Efflorescent Reducers/Water Repellents
  • Shrinkage Reducers
  • Hydration Stabilizers
  • Viscosity Modifiers
  • Biocides
  • Pigment Colors
  • Fibers/Shrinkage Control
Study Methodology.
To obtain all of the information and data to prepare this marketing-technical study, 84 companies were contacted at 104 locations. Contacts were made with technical, sales, marketing and purchasing personnel at companies producing the chemicals and materials used, as well as formulators and users of the concrete admixtures.
